The game is fun to play and there IS a community. I am glad I have found this gem.

Like any good novel this game requires your buy-in and use of your imagination to create a story between reader and author. Once this is done you have no regrets. Thats the difference between movies and novels, and the difference say between WOW and MUDs. Yes you have some control over how your character looks in WoW, but your imagination takes nigh total control in Bedlam. -The community is great. -devs are ever on to help -the world is vast and unforgiving you may attack a guard, and hell call for help. suddenly youre surrounded and escape is impossible... without a certain scroll. -You can buy Pets, even name them. Order them to do things. -Hire Mercenaries to do much the same thing as players, give them equipment, heal them, buff them with spells. You can even go on a suicide run and kill the King. Take that WoW. -Gats. Berserker.

This app is a very well done adaptation of a classic text based mud to the new interface of the iPad/iPhone . If you enjoy games that are social are require you to think give it a try

The constant crashing of this app nullifies all of its potential. Which probably explains the nonexistant community (although the few people Ive run into over a few weeks of playing were very kind and helpful). I feel like I may have found a great game a little too late.

App doesnt work I want my money back!!!! I get to the race screen and it will not let me proceed... Please fix this now!!!

This is by far the funnest game on my iphone 4s. The community is growing larger every day and updates are sometimes daily. The vastness of this game has kept me playing for over a year and i cant say that about many console games. Give the mud a try and ask questions if you get stuck, its not every day you get a graphical interface for a mud thats this extensive :) trust me when i say this app will be your favorite on a handheld device.

This games is HIGHLY addictive. Yes, it has a steep learning curve. It also has very friendly and helpful community. Read the help files, ask questions, and put forth a little effort and you will be very pleased. , unfinished.

Pros: - biggest non randomized world to explore Ive ever seen (apparently the world has been expanding since the 90s!?) - super interactive. You can look (read about) details within each room, each item, each person, etc. you can interact with most items and NPCs in various ways. - huge help file. Just type "help (x)" and you will learn about (x)... - the developer is constantly online interacting with everyone and has even added a few help file entries I suggested! Also the developer adds things weekly, usually at least one cool change a week. Cons: - very complex. This isnt a simple hack and slash. Be prepared to use a lot of tactics and recruit other players to help complete quests. - learning curve is pretty big. I still havent learned everything there is to know, and Ive been playing for two weeks. - lots of reading! Though the developer put a lot of effort into the graphical interface, apparently this game is based off of an entirely text and reading game modified with graphics. I dont mind but some people might not like this. Over all I will give this a 5 star because it would take me months to learn the whole world--maybe longer--and each are is so different and unique than the last. The challenge level varies based on what *I* want to do and where I want to go, not a repetitive system like so many RPGs these days. 5 stars for uniqueness, biggest world ever, and friendly and engaged players/staff.

As far as MUDs go this one is pretty good. The GUI is pretty good considering, and the community is pretty supportive. Definitely not a game for everyone. You really have to like MUDs to enjoy this, but I think almost everyone that likes RPGs should play it at least once.

Excellent game for the serious! This game has depth. Graphics update is fantastic.

The improved graphics are great, yes, but the performance actually just /DIED/ for me. I cant select commands or creatures, and I have been experiencing severe lag and disconnections. I was fine with the last version!

This game went from fantastic to broken for me. Since the graphic update the game has become majorly unresponsive with long lag times for basic functions. I am super sad and hope it gets fixed soon :(

Im new to bedlam and was really hoping to get into the game and start learning because I love role playing games and this looks like the closest experience you can get to tabletop RPGs but I cant even play, the interface is soooo slow at responding that I had to remove the app. Ill try redownloading as soon as its fixed and ill change my one star rating once I can play.

I have played this game for 18 years in one form or another. Veda (the game designer) has done amazing things to take the game from a plain text based game to an immersive graphical experience. The app is well thought out and if you want to truly understand the game you need to participate in the tutorials to master the app. The players are very helpful once you learn how to use the communication channels. The game is constantly evolving and new features are added to improve your experience based on user ideas and comments. Get this game if you want a challenge!

This game is an RPG like no other that Ive seen so far on the iDevice. There are no flashy animations and the network connection is minimal, which means that battery life tends to be longer when playing this one than many other MMO apps out there. There is a lot of fun that you can have when playing this game, and the community of players are a great bunch to be around. I enjoy playing with them and chatting when I can get in. Many of the players know almost as much as the developer in some areas of the game, and may know their way around the game better than the developer does in a few areas. FAIR WARNING: This game has two things going for it that you wont find elsewhere. #1) You must, I repeat MUST, use your brain to get very far in this game. If you just tap like crazy, expect to die a lot and find a few things frustrating for you. There is a learning curve to be able to really get the hang of the game, be sure you have time to play for the first few times so youre ready for everything the game will eventually throw at you. #2) This game is highly addictive. The players are a friendly bunch, and very helpful. Youll be almost as addicted to chatting as you will be to playing the game. Sometimes its an impossible situation to be in. I had a hard time reaching level 60 (the highest a mortal can reach) because I enjoyed chatting so much. You have been warned... ^_^ Quite the enjoyable game overall, thanks Eyecandid. Ciao! Great foundation for the first app of its kind!

Last update was 2013 and was for iOS6. The graphics and other aspects of the game are absent for older versions.

First time I play one and Im addicted. Yes its confusing but you learn as you go and its fun. Ingame name is Bulkkid. It does have bugs but its still enjoyable so give it a try
